A full season soybean crop can be grown on portions of land that can be rotated. Where rotation with nonhosts for two or more years is feasible, maturity group is unimportant as far as management of SCN is concerned. If cultivars with resistance to SCN are available, then a rotation of nonhost - susceptible - tolerant cultivar evidently is a good SCN management practice. Rotations shorter than two years should employ and early-maturing soybean cultivar with delayed planting can minimize SCN buildup and can reduce yield loss. Volunteer soybean crop should be used as a trap crop and plough out ten days after germination with the help of mouldboard plough to reduce the SCN population. Large areas with SCN problem should be rotated with nonhost pasture crop and degrated pastures should be cultivated with clean soybean seed and machinery to avoid SCN infestation. Solarization can help reduce SCN population by inverting soil with mouldboard plough at slow speed and leave it for 45 - 60 days where one crop a year is practiced. Research on the use of cultural practices to manage SCN probably should be recognized and must consider the population dynamic and ecology of SCN. Future research should focus on vulnerable periods in the life cycle of this pest to find ways to minimize its reproduction and survival.
